Re-start in Microsoft

 

 

People say the most fascinating thing is to start – maybe the most fascinating thing is to re-start?

 

Right after release on Amazon I was reading a Book “Hit Refresh” and suddenly I recalled the other one I have read in childhood by Ray Bradbury on how he created his stories and how much work was invested in it, which inspired me a lot but didn’t really forced to go any further than that. Inspiration is nothing unless you have a will or even an urge to do something else, so no matter how excited you get about and idea – it’s not going to happen unless you’re decided: here it comes. But in Hit Refresh I, finally, found the cornerstone – Fear of the unknown can send you in a million directions, and sometimes it just dead-ends with inertia. A leader has to have an idea what to do — to innovate in the face of fear and inertia.

 

I have started my own journey with a thought to do something bigger out of my life and make our world a better place. With that idea I came through gradation of 2 MSc in Moscow (NRU HSE) and in Paris (ESCP EUROPE), and creation of 3 startups, where the first two were closed and the third one (Virtuose) was successfully sold in France.

 

That brought me to the believe that IT is the best business domain to launch my career because it offers me the same values and unique work experience in several dimensions. Devoting myself to projects in various niches and different countries helped me shape my career interests, while the amazingly steep learning curve ensured that the skills acquired are not only broad, but also deep and well mastered. Of course, these gains came at the expense of hard work and long hours, but this is an advantage to me, since I’d like to take up a demanding job which I would be proud.

 

Step by step I found myself involved in an open-minded environment of digital world that appreciated the skills that I could add to it.  Consequently, Microsoft was my top priority, due to its unique approach to managing human capital. The Firm raises young minds from diverse backgrounds. For me that opens a great opportunity to learn something new from all my colleagues and senior managers. At the same time this ensure that my knowledge and skills would be allocated in the most efficient way. Moreover, this allocation would appear to be also socially desirable, due to the Firm’s commitment to making a positive impact on the society.

 

It`s been only a few months since I joined Microsoft and I can say that life has changed so much. Gradually, almost without noticing it myself, from studying and creating startups it turned into real life. It was to happen inevitably, but you never know it’s just around the corner. What`s most interesting is that you can be real you and fulfill own principles! This means following your passions by driving innovations that people love and inspired to work on and being boundary-less and globally minded as Satya said.

 

To conclude, I strongly recommend in this never-ending changing world to never stop to challenge yourself by re-starting your life and proving that you are capable to engage people and find a way to make things happen.
